El Rollo
Constructed in the second half of the 16th century, Mirabel’s pillory differs from others in that it is a symbol of the power of the Marquesses of Mirabel with their jurisdiction over this land and its people, having been granted the power to impart justice in the name of the king.
Raised on a two-tiered platform, this gothic poly-lobed column has a classical base and capital, and consists of eight drums. On top of this, there are four decorated stone corbels facing the four cardinal points. These are crowned with a pinnacle and the later addition of a cross, likely to be the remains of a now-disappeared monument.
